Love the lessons. The detail & time on each lesson gives me time to learn each step. Thanks

  • Bob

Ive been through alot of lessons and instructional DVDs but could never make scales sound anymore than scales. For the first time it sounds pretty goods and I understand whats happening… not just memorized licks. Thanks.

    Kenny,
I took lessons for years at $25 per hour ( a good deal for private lessons), but for $7.95 a month for 3 courses so far, plus what’s to come in the months ahead is a great deal. There is already a couple of years worth of private lessons on this site. Thanks.
Can’t wait for the Clapton and Stevie Ray tunes you going to teach us.

  • Diane

Kenny, I have several of your products, and really love them and the way you teach. Is this academy for immediate players and what is the cost? I need more information before joining.
    Thanks Kenny,

    Diane

    From Kenny:
Thanks Diane! GuitarPlayerAcademy is for playera of any level. Beginners should start with Guitarin60seconds
lessons while Intermediate players or anyone wanting to solo should start with Blues Improv Basics.

The cost to join right now is just $7.95 per month. If you join before the price changes you get to lock-in the current price for as long as you remain a member.

you have my attention as well. I already have Gi60s and I have paid to be part of GPA but everything I have seen at GPA is already Discussed in Gi60s. Have I paid only to have information refreshed that I can get off my Gi60s DVDs? where is the new content that will bring me farther than Gi60s?

    From Kenny:

My new course Blues Improv Basics will take you
to the next level in soloing.

These lessons are based on a brand new concept
called Scale Fragments. I didn’t invent the scale frag-
ments concept but I am the first apply them to the
    guitar.

There are 4 scales that are responsible for 99.99% of
all blues melodies. When I say melody I am referring
to any kind of melody whether vocal or a guitar solo
or just a riff or fill.

These 4 scales can be accessed using just 2 Pentatonic
Scale shapes. You know that I like to consolidate scale
shapes whenever possible. This helps your solos to
    sound more connected and melodic.

The first few lessons teach the 2 Pentatonic shapes..5th
and 3rd. Yes I taught the same shapes in Guitarin60seconds
but the way I am using those shapes in Blues improv Basics
    is very different.

So please do not skip these earlier lessons, go over them
starting with the 2 theory lessons then go to lesson one
so you can see exactly what this new concept is all about.

The chord Markers lesson uses major and minor chords to
mark the fretboard location of the pentatonic shapes in any
key, the DAE system I used in Gi60S is similar but only used
Major chord markers. I think you’ll find the minor chord markers
    a welcome addition.

Again your lessons are clear as usual. the only thing we have to do is to practise a lot in order to have our fingers trained to get it all automaticalyThere are some small things to be arranged and then I will sign in before the end of this month.I wish you all the best with this new way of teaching. Terima kasih! Bedankt!
    Thanks in Indonesian and Dutch.

Kenny, I’ve seen lots of your ads and brief teaching and I believe you are the best on line lessons has to offer. However, my style of playing tends to want to play folk, country and old time music solos. I can play chords fairly well but I need work on my solos. Does your new course have help for acoustic guitar players that cover my needs? I do not like the electric guitar sound, it’s acoustic all the way for me.

    From Kenny:

Thanks Virgil..I don’t have acoustic specific lessons but they concepts will work for acoustic players
    just as well as electric.

Kenny, Gi60s was a big breakthrough for me I hope and pray you site will bring me beyond the now simple patterns of the Pentatonic shapes you showed me with Gi60s. I am looking forward to the lessons in GPA. you have my attention.

  • Tom

I have purchased loads of lessons on line and have taken lessons for several years. in my experence after having this 3 days it is miles ahead of anything else I have purchased there is nothing even in the same league if you only buy 1 course this is the one it will take you farther faster than any of the others you won’t go wrong

    Hi Kenny,
First of all- great lessons! This is a nice addition to guitar in 60 seconds that I bought 2 years ago at Full price! Second, what the… $7.95 per month? That is not a deal, that is a steal. I dunno how you are doing it for that price when I am paying $19.95 for another site I subscribe to. They are either rippin me off or you are giving super bang for my buck! Either way, I am a member of yours for life! Keep up the great work!!! As always, you are the master.

Great Lesson, but I learned this stuff a long time ago. What I need is to learn solos that sound like SOLOS and not SCALES….major problem.

    From Kenny:
    Hi Keith,
Lots of players have the problem of their solo sounding like scales. That’s the whole reason why I wrote Blues Improv Basics. You just need to see the other lessons. This is only lesson one.

    Kenny

Thanks, this is good information, Happy 4th of July

  • Desi De Simone

I have a sugestion on the given lessons that the guitar lessons are in tune with the material. When the instructor says he is playing a C note then it should be a C sounding note and not tuned to a differnet note. I am not sure where the problem is but the notes I hear are not the same notes played on the fretboard.

    From Kenny:
The tuning I used throughout the course
is half step down, made famous by Hendrix
and many other legendary rock and blues
    players.

The slacker tuning has a more authentic
blues sound and the slacker strings
    make string bending easier.

You’ll see this same concept used in many
books and recordings. It is common to
refer to the note names according to their
location on the neck, rather than tuning.

I’ll have a new tuning video up soon that you
can use as a reference or you could tune to
Eb using an electronic tuner, this will match
    the videos.

What you have explained so far makes a lot more sense than any other explanation I have seen.

  • Jack Mitchell

Thank you for posting this. It helps to explain a lot of stuff for me.

  • Hinnas

    English Translation (according to Google):
Now after many weeks of understanding the arrangement of scales
I ‘ve now finally hope understood more to learn from you because I
play guitar for only one janhr bzw.es try thanks

  • Giuseppe

I have played guitar for 40 years, but you have a simplistic method to be able to show the easiest way to play and make changes, which take many years to learn, congratulation. Giuseppe

  • Steve

A very good beginning. It will make many to want more.

  • Marvin

At age 55 I decided to begin taking lessons on the guitar. Tried it for 1 1/2 years and loved the time spent with the instructor.

Problem was that when I got home and practiced I found that I had trouble getting my “patterns” right while playing over chords that I recorded.

Your simple approach to the penatonic chords and showing them as Major and Minor makes sense and has allowed me to make my playing harmonic instead of out of key.

Looking forward to the rest of your lessons,
    Marvin

Gr8 lesson,u r an gd teacher…The first point of wisdom is to know the truth; the second, to discern what is false. God’s words of pure, eternal truth
    Shall yet unshaken stay,
When all that man has thought or planned,
    Like chaff has passed away.

    prayer,teaching,communion&fellowship…thank u sir!

  • Paul

Enjoying your lessons as usual, Kenny. Minor error (I think) in Lesson 1 printout. Fourth example fret should start at 15, then transposed down to the 3rd fret in the last example ( because some of us were running out of frets!)

    From Kenny:
    Check out the new revision
is that what you had in mind?

  • Duncan Newsome

Hi Kenny this looks like it will simplify the pentatonic patterns and add some meaning for those trying to get a handle on majors and minors and hanging it all together up and down the neck
    Duncan

  • Vinnie

explained so it can be easily understood!

  • john izatt

Brilliant Kenny you sure have a gift of explaining complex scaling in a simple way, love it. John

  • Thomas Boise

HI Kenny, I just finished the first segment, I really enjoyed it. I like the way you teach. Although i have completed guitar in 60 seconds i always seem to pullout something new from each lesson you put out. I’m looking forward to next month already.. Keep up the good work. Take care and God Bless… Tom Boise I might try to put out a video even though i’m pretty clueless on how to do it……

  • ray

    Hi Kenny

Well for me you have certainly taken the strain out of what can be confusing for many,
I hope the rest of the course follows in these footstepseasily understood and a pleasure to apply, shear enjoyment , at last?? ha

  • laval

    Hi Kenny,

That’s great to learn some new stuff !
I am happy to see you back on guitar couses.
I appreciate that video showing on a large board what you are talking about and it is simple…WOW !

    Regards,

    Laval

  • Ken

I have always been a fan of your teaching technique…I have learned some things from you…but have not understood enough to get there in my lead ability..this course looks interesting and possible could take me to that next level I would love to be at..and thats the ability to improvise over the blues tracks or with friends while jamming…its so embarrassing to have the lead player look over at me and tell me to take it for a lead run…because I always stay in one box area and it never sounds good…that is my goal…to be able to take the lead for a couple rounds and sound good at it too. The chart you use while demonstrating, is that downloadable for my use if I were to join your blues academy?

    Thanks Kenny

  • nick

great stuff as allways kenny you videos are allways well thought out . is there a link to your web site ?

  • John

I’m sure that this will be a great course. Kenny has the laid back, non intimidating style of teaching that makes sense.

  • John Carterc

Kenny , Looks lik a great sight and the most simply explained blues sight I have seen.

  • John Wamback

Cool,I like this way of approach for learning.Seems simple enough and looks easy to process. Will be joining very soon.
    Thanks John

  • George

These lessons are good pointers for learning how to apply the scales to fit the chords. I think that this technique will help a lot of people to understand how to get around the guitar to play solos.

  • Jack

As always you take time and explain in down to earth plain and understandable language and great video. Well done!
